How the Universe Can Help You Manifest Your Desires
What do you want right now? Money? Love? How about a new career— or even better, a whole new life? Chances are, if you’re on this website, you’ve heard of The Law of Attraction. At its most base, the Law says that we are all the architects of our own reality; we have the power to change our lives simply by shifting our mindset. But so many people, even when they’re aware of the Law of Attraction, struggle to manifest anything positive and might dismiss its inherent truth as a result, tossing it aside like yesterday’s trash. While I can’t tell you exactly why you’re faltering in your manifestation, here are three undeniable truths about the universe and the Law of Attraction:
The Universe Does Not Help Victims
Harsh, but true. Strangely popular amongst people nowadays is the victim mentality— you have been wronged in some way and so. This experience now becomes a crutch or an excuse as to why your life is awful. You identify yourself as a victim, a passive bystander that things happen to, not someone who can make things happen. What’s worse is that many parents think this way, a mindset that is then passed down to their children, and so on and so forth. Everyone struggles and you should never minimize your pain or trauma, but there is a world of difference between seeing yourself as a victim and seeing yourself as a hero.

The Universe Helps Those Who Help Themselves
You are more than the worst thing that’s happened to you, and while healing may be a long and painful process, know that you can do it. As soon as you take your power back and stop playing the victim, you’ll notice a shift— the universe wants to help you help yourself, but it can’t if you refuse to make changes for your own life. Whether that means seeking therapy, cutting toxic people out of your life, or something else, you need to start somewhere. Don’t be afraid to start small. As Martin Luther King Jr. said: “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” Marinating in the past will only leave you soaked in resentment. While your life experiences shape who you are, they do not have to dictate the mindset with which you live your life.
The Universe Does Not Understand The Word "No"
If you’re unhappy, chances are that you focus on the source of that unhappiness and stress, which seems to go from a minor annoyance to a fearsome gulag that you’re muddling through every day. For example: if you’re constantly worried about the money in your bank account and how stretched thin you are, even if you don’t talk about it, it’s likely that you flinch when you see your bank statement or find yourself mentally gnawing on it at every turn. But the universe is like a screaming toddler on an 18-hour flight; it does not understand the word “no,” nor does it grasp the concept of it. The universe does, however, very much enjoy the word “yes.”
So, if you think, “I wish I had enough money to travel/renovate/whatever,” the universe will respond in kind. “Yes, you do wish that you had enough money to travel/renovate/whatever.” If you tell your friends you want money to buy a luxury vehicle, the universe can only respond in kind. “Yes, you want that money.” Thus, you’re setting yourself up to be part of a cycle, wherein you desperately want something, and the universe agrees that you desperately want it, because it’s matching your energy, granting more of what you already have. You cannot manifest from a place of lack, and the more you focus on what you don’t have, over time, the more resentful you will feel, and the worse your situation will become.

The Universe Matches Your Frequency. Use it to Your Advantage.
The more you stress about something (whether you resent your situation, you’re low on cash, you’re always attracting the wrong type of partner and feel you will never find someone, etc.), the more you will receive of that stressor. This can be frustrating, especially if you want to pump the brakes on the bad and start inviting the good into your life. But since you know the universe matches your frequency (it gives back what it gets), you can change it. Did you see something that made you wince on your bank statement last week? Let it go. It’s now part of the past, and dwelling on it ensures that you’re creating for yourself more of the same. It happened, you can’t change it, so why are you still worrying about it?
Start divorcing yourself from the negative emotions and connotations associated with the problematic areas in your life. Instead, change your perception and focus on the positive things in your life. Express gratitude for what you already have and more will show up! Example: “I’m thankful I can afford my phone and internet bills. I’m thankful I can make house payments. I’m thankful I was able to fill up my gas tank today.” The more you practice, the easier it will get, and the more you’re comfortable with yourself and the things you have, the more the universe will reach out to help uplift you.
The Universe Can Only Help You if You Believe it Can
This was one of my biggest problems in the past. I simply did not believe the Law of Attraction would work at first, and lo and behold, it didn’t. However, I was at the point where I couldn’t be smug, humbug, snobby, or blasé about it. I knew I needed to make changes, and so I changed. I embraced the Law of Attraction and its teachings with open arms. If you simply snort or roll your eyes and expect that you will only ever have more of the same and nothing can help you— well, that’s what you’ll get.
Stuck with this? Try:
Believe in The Law of Attraction and Yourself
Belief is a big thing to ask of people in today’s world. Our default mode seems to be cynical, so harangued are we by messages our own society gleefully displays for us. Teenage apathy isn’t just for teenagers anymore; young kids and full-grown adults are bored, resentful, and unhappy with themselves and their lives, fully convinced that nothing will change and they’ll never be able to live an improved, enjoyable life, so they simply fall back on the idea that it doesn’t matter. But your life does matter. You matter. You deserve everything you want, true happiness included.
If you don’t first believe that you’re worth all the good things in this world, how will you ever be able to acknowledge that the Law of Attraction can help you get those things? Recognize how amazing you are. Not with false confidence or bravado, but genuine self-awareness. Write your good qualities down, remember all of the good things you’ve done, embrace yourself for who you are.
The Law of Attraction is always working, so be mindful of your words and thoughts. Express yourself with gratitude and joy, and you’ll find that the universe is ready to help you make your wildest dreams a reality.
